Hi Mahasen, the first three photos, were the original paintings covered by a layer of plaster (or the painting is on a layer of plaster) Great series, I thoroughly enjoyed the Polonnaruwa series.
Great, We need to preserve all these fragile works. I am thinking of getting a Gigapan (http://gigapan.org/gigapans/18716/) and spending some time in these areas, just to document these invaluable works.

All these are log exposures (30 seconds of shutter speed at f/18 exposed on ISO 200; mostly) so it's difficult to judge depth by the image.
This was at "Thiwanka Pilima Geya" which is quite dark inside and it's not allowed to use flash lights...
The last one is of it's ceiling...
