Firecrackers disturbed my sleep. Got up to realize it's midnight.
I'm feeling sorry for all the dogs, cats and all those domestic animals who get dead scared by these fucked-up, insane humans who enjoy making so much noise.
Personally, this was the first new year's eve for me in Sri Lanka since 2005; and that too, I spent alone.. pathetic.
Hmm.. Anyways, wish everyone a happy new year 2010.
Wish you a very HAPPY new year Mahasen..
ReplyDeleteWish you a bright and prosperous new year 2010!

Wishing you a happy new year and agreeing with you that loud firecrackers should be banned! May be the next “banning task” for Champika Ranawaka the env minister; after bringing in the much needed loudspeaker law. There are so many things that need to be actually banned in Sri Lanka and I hope JHU can take the lead in those. They are fond of campaigning for bans and new laws anyway; but things that they want to ban are questionable. Apart from the Loudspeaker law, all of the other stuff JHU after is not in the interest of the improvement of the living conditions of the country.
ReplyDeleteHere is my list of things for env ministry to follow up on
1. Loud firecrackers (disturbing the human and animal life)
2. Backyard garbage burning (releasing greenhouse gases and carcinogenic fumes from polythene etc)
3. Strict law enforcement on use of polythene for decorations (laws are already there)
4. Strict law enforcement on sticking bills on public property (eye sore, property destruction, and obstruction of informative signs)
