  1. Nice!
How did you manage to get such clear photos for those fish?
When I try that and if I use the flash, I get a reflection from the glass tank, and if I don't use the flash the whole thing appears too dark to see any fish!

  2. Thanks!

Flash is a NO NO.. it reflects off glass. You need to make use of the available light.

There are three factors that contribute to the exposure of a photo in digital photography.

    1.) shutter speed
    2.) aperture
    3.) ISO sensitivity

shutter speed is, how long you keep the shutter open a higher value means more light.

Aperture is the size of the iris opening. It's said as a fraction of the opening - i. e. F/2.8 | F/40.. So the smaller value means more light.

ISO sensitivity is, how sensitive your sensor would be. A lower value like ISO 100 means it's less sensitive, but produce less noise, ISO 3200 is very sensitive but pron to produce a lot of noise.

Dial your camera to manual mode and select these values to get a proper exposure. Since we shoot these hand held and fish move quite fast, slowest shutter speed I think is good is around 1/30S. I shot most at F/2.8 but if you have light to spare, using a smaller aperture would give you more depth of focus field. If you don't have enough light with the biggest aperture (smallest F number) and the slowest shutter speed, try increasing the ISO speed.

    Good luck!
