PhotWeaver.net
I was thinking of separating my photo-blogging from day-today blogging...
I know; all I do on this blog right now is photo blogging; but you know I write things once in a while, and I used to tech-blog too. I want to start all that again; but that would bore off most of you who come here just to see some photos.
The options I had was either to keep this as the photo blog and create a separate blog for other stuff or create a separate photo blog and make this the general blog. I opted the second mostly because of existing content of this blog and the template issues.
So I started PhotoWeaver.net. I hope you will visit me there, and follow too.
For starters, I'm posting the photos which are already on my flickr stream. So some of you would have seen the stuff before. Bear with me for a while, and I will start posting new photos there.

The new Colombo skyline
500
It's my 500th post, it took me almost 7 years to achieve that.. But I guess what matters is that I kept blogging for the past 7 years and I'm still posting.
This started off as a tech-blog, then turned in to sort of a diary, then a political blog and finally a photo blog.
So.. As the 500th post; here's me:

Horton plains - roads
If you are going there (Horton plains that is) to take photographs, make sure (like in any other photo tour) you take with you a designated driver who will be willing to stop at anytime you ask to (I didn't had that luxury - I very rarely do). Because if you are driving, you are bound to miss a lot of photo opportunities...
BTW; Wish you a very happy new year!

Before and after - Post processing
The one on the left is the crop of the RAW file without any post processing. Light Room 3 Beta and PhotoShop Elements 8 helped creating the one on right.

Rockefeller plaza, NY
I've been playing with LR 3 Beta for few days now. I haven't used LR much before, so I'm not accustomed to how it's Flickr publishing works.
I just edited my copyright notice watermark and saved Flickr export settings; it asked me whether I want to apply the same settings to the files which are already in the collection; I, without thinking of the consequences, clicked yes.
LR started to show a bunch of files to be re-published. But since I don't have a Flickr Pro account, publishing wouldn't replace those images on Flickr. Since it started to get annoying to have the them in a "to be re-published" state, I removed them from the collection, and did a publish later for another photo..
Guess what? LR removed all those photos from my Flickr account as well!!!
So.. keep in mind when you are using LR and Flickr.. it does a two way sync when you press publish...

Buddhi
This was shot @ ISO 1600 on my D80 while Buddhi and I were comparing high ISOs of our cameras.
Did a slight noise reduction in LR (Luminance 5 & Color 20) but it came out of the camera almost at the same noise level.
Other tech specs: 18-200 VR @ 95 mm - f/5.6 - 1/60s
