1GB of memory - in my phone >:)

I received the SanDisk 1GB RS-MMC on Tuesday. Since the manual of my Nokia 6230i says it supports only up to 512MB, I kept my fingers crossed till I tried it out. It works fine without any problem. The only issue I have right now is the Bluetooth link is too slow to transfer files to and from the phone. To transfer 240MB it took almost 40 minutes. :-? May be I should buy a MMC drive as well.
BTW Do you think an average software engineer like me, could afford a phone like this?

All in a day’s work

While most enjoyed a really long weekend, I was at office running test cases and fixing bugs that aren’t mine... Last Thursday, which was supposed to be a half day of work I worked till 2 A.M. (Friday). Most of the hours spent not on work but the following exceptions, all in one day -

The request failed with HTTP status 401: Unauthorized. : This kept coming and coming - I just couldn’t access the webservice - not through the browser nor through a client. The following link helped -
http://www.dotnet247.com/247reference/msgs/14/70234.aspx

ORA-12154: TNS:could not resolve the connect identifier specified. : This is actually my fault - I had two oracle homes 9i and 10g and then I had two TNS.. the following helped :
http://ora-12154.ora-code.com/
http://forums.oracle.com/forums/thread.jspa?messageID=1162655&tstart=0

Server did not recognize the value of HTTP Header : This comes - as I understood - because of corrupted ASP .NET temporary files - if you remove them it would work.. but if you don’t know what corrupted them this would strike again and again.. the following like helped
http://www.dotnet247.com/247reference/msgs/46/234586.aspx

Web service initialization failed. : namespace of the proxy class automatically change to http://tempuri.org/ only cleaning VS cache and temporary ASP .NET files and recompiling and running the asmx helped. But it didn’t fix the issue. I made sure http://tempuri.org/ is not found in any of the files.. oh boy this gave me enough.. nothing really helped me on this one...

1 GB of memory for my phone

I ordered a SanDisk 1 GB RS-MMC with extensible adaptor for my Nokia 6230i. hoping to receive it by 20th.

Officially, the 6230i only supports up to 512 MB. But I read in some forums that it supports beyond that...

Keeping my fingers cross...

Why I couldn't blog

I wasn’t blogging for some time, simply because I didn’t had time to spare...
Was kind of busy at the office, because the clarifications I was waiting for arrive only two days before the delivery and there were more than two days of work to be done. Plus myself and Sithira convinced NC to take on BCS professional examinations and got him to come stay with us in Colombo so when I go home I try to spare few minutes if not hours tutoring him.
Sithira is supposed to join in today... if he does, I’d be responsible only for SE related stuff.. So might have some free time.
BTW NC cooks like a chef. So we enjoy home cooked meals these days...

Ambuluwawa trip

As planed, Me, Sithira, NC and Chamini went to Ambuluwawa last Sunday - With my parents and sister! Trip was awesome. It helped to ease our work stress a bit. Planning to go to Yapahuwa next month. Here are some photos from the trip captured using my Nokia 6230i. (May be I should buy a digital camera)

Wishes...

It's a new year, yet wishes I send aren't that new,

I'm just making it an opportunity to express them now,

I wish you good health, happiness and peace in mind,

Not only for the new year, but through each moment you live

Even though I may not wish you each year to come

Remember, my wishes for you would remain the same till I live...
